Cousins

We are lucky to live close to some of our cousins....and my boys are SUPER lucky that they have a sweet aunt who lets them sleep over and makes them yummy food:) They LOVE her stuffed crust pizza and her yummy waffles....She's the best:) I just love this picture and when I saw it I knew I had to blog it so that I never lose it!

Howdy Y'All!

We were invited to Grandma Bev's family reunion this year and it was a great time!  The kids all had a blast playing the games they had set up all over, chowing down on hot dogs and even smacking a pinata!  They also had a "grown ups game".  The girls vs the guys.....and we had to eat a marshmallow and a graham cracker and then whistle.  It was hilarious and best of all Grandpa and Grandma Bev did it!  We all Loved it and were thankful to be invited!

Awesome Scouts

I consider myself lucky...well...for many reasons:) BUT tonight I consider myself lucky because I have awesome scouts!  Tonight Matt received his first and second class ranks and Tyler received his Faith In God Award.  They have great leaders that help them but they are both so self motivated that I am always in awe.  Love them both so much!

Cousin Adventure #5- The Drive In

We've been wanting to go to a drive in something fierce around the Staten house.  The last one we went to was Finding Nemo....so it's been a while!  We decided that the kids are all big enough to survive the drive in now.....sort of....so we made it this week's cousin adventure!  To make it even better...Monsters U came out!  AND it was showing with Epic!  Ok so Epic wasn't the best movie ever BUT it's not often that the drive in shows 2 movies together that my little ones can see!  It was a great night and I can't believe it but EACH of my kids stayed awake the whole time! Silly kids!  Tired mom and dad:)

Swimming In The MUD!

This morning Tyler said that he and his friends wanted to go swim in the mud pit up at Friendship Park.  Hey...who am I to get in the way of some fun in the mud?!?  SO I took Tyler, Katie and MJ and dropped them off to swim in the mud!  Thankfully Katie took some pictures!  Kinda wish I'd been that obnoxious mom that tags along....

Ty's First Youth Conference!

This week Tyler got to go to his very first Youth Conference!  He was so excited and I was so excited for him! I have such great memories from my Youth Conferences and I couldn't wait for him to make some of his own!

This year our ward decided to go to Kodachrome basin!  One of our favorite places on earth and add to that Ty got to go with Brother Baker (the EXPERT on Kodachrome)!!  They hiked and hiked and hiked (In Kodachrome, at Bryce Canyon and in the Grand Stair Case) and had great fire sides and testimony meeting and Ty came home exhausted and on a spiritual high!  The only problem.....I sent the camera and he took all of 2 pictures:) BOYS!  hehehe

The whole Group

Tyler cooling down in the freezer at the Bryce Canyon General Store:)

BLAST off!

Mike's been working with the scouts on the Space Exploration Merit Badge and today we went to the park to launch them.  Some did great!  Some flew sideways and exploded!  It was great!!

3 Kings Race

Ok, so we all know that Mike is a little (or a LOT) nuts when it comes to riding up hills.  He LOVES it.  I avoid it...Well today he showed how crazy AWESOME he it!  He decided to race in the 3 Kings Race in North Salt Lake.  Here's the Hill climbing info:

Kings: Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar
Total Length: 12.4 miles
Total Elevation Gain: 2778 ft
Max Grade: 20%

INSANITY!  In my mind.  But Mike loves a challenge.  He loves to see how hard and how far he can push himself and I love that about him.  ANYWAY, he got up and left super early so that he could warm up.  I got up and left here with Isaac, Lucas and Nick at 6:45 (Ty was still at Youth Conference and Matt had to be in the South Ogden Parade).  Mike had written out detailed driving directions so that the boys and I could be at the top of each climb and take pictures and video and he came up.  I was a little stressed about making it to each one but thanks to his awesome directions we made it to each one!  The boys ran along side of him and we all cheered him up each hill and then jumped in the car and ran to the next one.  That's MY IDEA of climbing the 3 kings:)

Mike, because of his age, was in the biggest and hardest age group.  The guys who won also finished in the top 5 in LOTOJA last year! That being said Mike ended up smack in the middle of his pack and I think that's pretty dang amazing! Way to go honey!!

Ogden Bike Park

Ogden City has been working LONG and HARD to create a Mtn. Bike park and the green line (the easy one) is finally finished!  Today we had a few hours to kill today and so we went to check it out.  It was Amazing!  I didn't think that the little ones would be able to do it BUT once again they amazed me.  They all (INCLUDING Nick) tore it up!!  I can't believe it! I think that Nick and Lucas were more comfortable than I was!  Ty had been at youth conference and got home (of course) right after we left....so I ran home to get him and FINALLY we were all back together!  Thanks Ogden!
