E-CYBER Mission

Tyler got a chance to participate in a science/engineering competition put on by the Army.  It's called E-Cyber Mission and they had to come up with a project that would benefit our community by solving a problem.  Tyler's team decided to make bio fuel out of left over cafeteria food.  They worked so hard!  I had no idea if anything would come of it but I was excited to see the kids working hard and learning how to run a real experiment.  WELL, we were all shocked to find out that they won the District competition! I was so proud!  We celebrated and then....forgot about it:) Until we got a call that their project WON STATE!  Wahoo!  I'm so excited that the kids could see their hard work pay off!

Brothers

All of my boys love each other and have fun together.  Ty and Matt though....have had a special bond since before Matt was even born when Ty named him:) I saw this picture today and was reminded of when they were little and Ty would climb into the crib and just lay by Matt and love him.  Love it!

Preschool Talents and Jr. High Preschool:)

Today we had the preschool talent show.  I LOVE this lesson.  I love that when they are little they have a better view of what a talent is.  They aren't yet stuck with the idea that you have to sing or dance or play a sport to be talented.  This year we had one boy do a puzzle in less than 2 minutes.  One did karate.  One did  ninja sword tricks, one did flips on the tramp, one sang and one rode his bike.  I LOVED it!

Then we packed the kids up and went to visit Tyler's Jr. High class which was putting on a preschool for 2 days.  The preschoolers were great and Nick loved being there with Tyler....and I think Tyler loved having Nick there too!

It's Graduation Time! YAY!!

I don't think that I have ever been so excited for a graduation....EVER!  Mike Oveson graduated from Weber today!!  WAHOO!!  He has worked harder than anyone I have ever known...He worked full time, went to school (some times full time some times part time ....BUT he ALWAYS went!) he was the bishop AND a great dad and husband to his family!  GO MIKE!!  I skipped the morning stuff so that I could go and decorate the lawn with balloons.  It was so much fun and Nick was an awesome helper:)

Let's Hear It For The Scout Of The Year!!

A few weeks ago I got a call that Tyler had been chosen as the Scout of the Year for our zone.  I was so excited but I kept it a secret from Tyler.  I wanted him to be shocked when we got to the dinner.  SO I told him that he was invited because he got his Eagle this last year...which technically was true:) We got to the dinner, sat down and started looking at the program.  That's when he saw his name and that he was scout of the year for Riverdale Zone:)  He grinned from ear to ear!  I loved it!  I also loved that he didn't expect it & when he realized he'd won he didn't feel boastful about it.  He was just honored and happy.  LOVE this kid!

Dare...Wait Now It's Nova...Graduation:)

I loved the DARE program...and when I heard that they had changed to a program called NOVA I wasn't sure if I'd like it.  I did!  They talked about drugs and alcohol but they also talked about music, video games and how to make major life choices.  Matt loved it and so did I!  Way to go Matt!

Miss You Dad

I've been having a really hard time lately when it comes to missing my dad.  I feel like he's been gone for so long.  My kids don't know him.  I sometimes wonder if I know him anymore.  SO today being the 12th anniversary of his death I was a little down.  I had to figure out how to change my mood SO I decided that we needed root beer floats.  My dad always said that Root Beer Floats  made everything better and they did!

We spent tonight talking about my dad.  Who he was.  The things I learned from him. The good things.   By the time we were done I felt so much better!  I remembered how he treated people.  I remember once when I was little we were in Liberty Park and he saw a one of many homeless men walking past.  He watched him for a minute and then had us run over and give him $.  He just felt like that guy needed it.  I remember him talking to everyone he met and being their best friend within 5 minutes.  He listened to what people said.  He never jumped in with "yeah well I...".  I remembered Ivan.  I have no idea what Ivan's last name was, but he was an old man who lived out of his car.  My dad met him one day and they became friends.  Dad invited him to stay with us....he just felt like it was ok.  So Ivan came and slept on our couch for a few days (Yes my mom's pretty great too!) and then took off again.  Every few months he would show up with his dog and sleep on our couch, eat good meals and then take off again.  I have no idea what ever happened to him but it's something that touched my heart deeply as a kid and made me a better person.

There are so many other stories!  I think that as they come to me I'm just going to randomly blog them so I don't forget them again!

Dad I love and miss you each and every day.  Thanks for all of the good.  Thanks for the things I learned from the bad.  And most of all thanks for loving me.

April Fools Day

I love making funny things for dinner on April Fools Day. This year however we had an early soccer game....which meant NO time. I didn't know what to do.  I finally decided that "Ice Cream Sundee's" would work because it was early and I could call it a treat before the game:)  They really thought it was ice cream from across the room hehehe.  I love my kids!
