The NICU Grad's Summer Party!

Last night we had the greatest time at the McKay Dee "NICU Grad's summer party. This year they held it at the North Shore Aquatic Center and it was AWESOME! They provided dinner and prizes and of course the entrance. It was made even better by the fact that Mary and Mike were there. Kyle and Nick were both in the NICU at McKay in 2008, so forever we'll get to play at these reunions together! The Chamberlaine (from our ward) and the Woodburry's (Preschool friends) were also there!

Nick had a blast. The others did too, but since this was about Nick I was so happy to see him LOVING it. He had a grin plastered on his face the entire time!

I was a slacker though and forgot my camera! Mary had hers though so As soon as I get pic's from here I'll post them!

Our last Cousin Adventure!

We have done SO many fun things this summer with our cousins! I just can't believe it's over!!!!!
Last Thursday the boys all had a GREAT BIG COUSIN SLEEP OVER at Mary's house for our last Cousin Adventure. They had so much fun! Then on Friday Mary's boys came and played here all day! It was so wonderful. You'd think that 8 boys would be insane, but they actually do so well together that it usually makes things easier! I LOVE our cousins!

The First Day of School For Tyler and Matt!

Well, it's here, School has officially begun. Tyler came up last night all stressed because he hadn't done enough long division this summer. I love that kid! Matt was just plain excited! He said that he didn't think he'd be able to sleep! This morning we had yummy strawberry pancakes (Mike rocks) and then we all made the trek to school. As we were heading up Tyler said "You're really going to miss me today" I agreed and asked him in what exactly he meant, and he said "Nick is very attached to me and I hold him a lot for you" OH SO VERY TRUE!!!!! I was sad to realize that I only get one more year of this with Tyler. He grew up!

After school the boys came running down the path with smiles a mile wide. When Tyler opened the door he shouted that he had "the best teacher ever!" Matt started talking a mile a minute giving me a play by play that started when he left my side!

I LOVE back to school time!!!

The Last Weekend of Summer!!

We had the greatest "Last Weekend of Summer"! Saturday was a perfect family day! We all worked at the Farmers Market, played at the water slides and then, the best part of all, went to see Star Wars Episode 4 on the BIG SCREEN!!! It was so much fun! The kids were so excited to see it in a theater! And it was fun to hold Mike's hand while Alderon blew up! (The first time we held hands was when we saw A New Hope when it was in the theater's beack in 1997!)

Tyler said that when the lights went down and the theme music started he got chills. I have to say I did too!!

Sunday was another great day. Mike, TYler, Matt and I went to the Oquirrah Temple dedication. It was so amazing. I love the temple and what it has done for my family. After the dedication we all just relazed and enjoyed the day. We went on a walk in the rain and saw a full double rainbow, ate yummy eggplant and zucchini lasagna and had fathers blessings. This summer was AWESOME, and I can't believe it's over already, but I am also so excited for this great new school year!!

The Arrow of Light!

Well, Tyler is officially done earning the big awards in Cub Scouts! He got his Arrow of Light Wednesday! It was so much fun to watch him. He was so incredibly excited that he was shaking! We had arranged for the Order Of The Arrow to come, and when we told Tyler he started to cry because he had wanted his dad to do the ceremony! So Mike being the good Dad that he is went to the fabric store and bought what he needed to make an Indian costume. He had some parts of the costume from when he was a teenager and a member of the Order of The Arrow, but not the actual clothes part! I came home from scrapbooking last Saturday to find Mike sewing his costume! He's amazing! Anyway his costume was very cool and having Uncle Stephen, Grandma and Grandpa Wittke, and Grandpa Staten there made it even better! They had popsicles after pack meeting and Matt was so sweet to share with Nick. Nick however wanted to hold it and refused to hold the stick. Then he screamed cuz it was so cold! Oh boy!

After pack meeting we wend for shakes with Mom and Don and Tee at the Burger Bar. (They have the best shakes....and they're frozen yogurt!) I love my family! Good Job Tyler!!!!!

Camping at Redman Campground up Big Cottonwood Canyon

We had a wonderful family vacation last week. It was kinda short but VERY nice. Because of work we didn't have a lot of time, and we were hoping to get to see Stephen, so we decided to camp up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We had never camped up there before, but I now have a new favorite campsite to add to my list! It was BEAUTIFUL, and so relaxing! It rained a bit but only at night which is one of my favorite things!

Look at those feet! Lucas refused to wear his shoes!

Matt was so excited to carve! Since he's 8 and has his own pocket knife, this was a whole new experience!
The boys all loved chopping fire wood. It was a little stressful for me, but I think it was their favorite thing all week!We roasted hot dogs our first night and as I was getting everything ready to make chili dogs when I realized that Mike had forgotten the plates and the buns. But No biggie! We ate them on bread on strips of tin foil! Then the next day we had tin foil breakfast (WAY YUMMY BTW) and tin foil dinners! Did you know that you can cook corn on the cob in the fire? It was great!
Wednesday Night Mary , Mike and the kids along with Mom, Don, and Stephen came up to see us! It was so much fun to sit around the fire with everyone! On Thursday we hiked to Doughnut Falls. That was a lot of fun. It wasn't too hard for even the little ones and little boys LOVE waterfalls! IT was grand adventure for us all, but Lucas had the most fun I think.
"Look Mom I'm a Penguin!" No idea what he meant, but he sure was a mess when he was done!

The big boys however DIDN'T like bathing in a bucket out in the open! hehehehehehehehe!! But because of the rain they were all asleep by 8:30!There is nothing better than wrestling in a tent with your brothers! The next day we broke camp and headed to mom's for a bit. It was a great little vacation, except for the fact that we left our hamock tied to the trees!!!! Oh well, I guess now I know what to get Mike for his b-day right?!?!
