I love Swiss Days. I love going back up to Midway and remembering the wonderful life I had up there. The crowds are always NUTS and the booths are usually the same thing booth after booth, the kids games are now nothing but bounce houses/slides (which is perfect for the kiddo's!!) BUT the food and the entertainment........it's the same as when I was a kid. In fact the signs above the booths are the exact same signs too, and I love it! In fact Mike and I BOTH LOVE Swiss Days!
This year we went while the oldest 3 were in school and while they were kinda sad, it was nice to only have to watch 2. AND while we were buying tickets for the kids to bounce on "only 2" bounce houses, some lady gave me $10 worth of tickets! We totally scored!
Then it was off to get us some knockwurst sandwiches, chips and yummy chocolate chip cookies! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Mmmmmm.
We even managed to find Dennis and Michelle while waiting in line to ride the shuttle back to our car! Nick and Lucas were so excited to see them! My boys (all 5 of them) would be happy to live with the Voigts I think!
After we rode the shuttle back to our car (another "newfangled" part of Swiss Days which makes it TOTALLY better btw) and then we took Lucas to see "yours house when you were a kid?". Still feels like home in a lot of ways. In fact every once in a while I dream that we buy the house back and i get to raise my kids there. Of course then the dream changes and I'm just squatting in the house and am constantly scared that the cops are going to catch me. Hmmm. Wonder what that's all about. Oh well. I can dream right? lolAlthough,I'm not sure why, with the big back patio that the new owners have they grill in the front yard!
