Krispy Kreme.....Yes ANOTHER Field Trip!

This week started out with a field trip to Krispy Kreme. This is one of my favorite preschool field trips because it's close, it's quick and you get a free donut when you are done! This time it was even better because Dad got to come and meet us! (It helps that it's 2 minutes from his work)

Yay for Grades!

Today was report card day and my boys were excited and nervous! Ty's goal for this year was all A's. It's tough with our 6th grade teachers. They are TOUGH (which I'm totally ok with BTW).
ANYWAY the kids came running in today and Tyler was bouncing up and down! ALL A'S! Matt and Isaac were excited about their ALL TOP GRADES TOO, but not quite as bouncy as Tyler! Matt and Isaac's report cards are a little weird THe new program the district us using :) and all teachers hate, rates each subject on the year long view. So some concepts have only been half way taught. Thus a 2 or3. Causes grief with my perfectionist kids, BUT according to their teachers they've mastered where they should be! Way to go boys!

Mmmmmm Mrs. Cavanaugh's

Last summer Jamie sent me a list of "factory tours" in our area. Some are things I've done, some are things that the preschoolers wouldn't care about, some are way to far. HOWEVER Mrs Cavanaugh's chocolate factory is in North Salt Lake and the tour is FREE and, well, who doesn't LOVE chocolate? So this year we decided to add it to our field trip list! Lucas was excited for candy, AND to have a field trip too this week!

It was fun to see that it really is still a family owned and OPERATED company. Mrs. Cavanaugh's Granddaughter-in-law was our tour guide and the guy dipping the pretzels was her grandson. And they really do hand dip the chocolates! No wonder they're a little pricey! So yummy though!

Pinewood Derby!!!!!

I love Pinewood Derby time! Matt was so excited this year! Due to the current tank obsession at our house he decided he wanted to make a tank. It was so fun. He did the work himself AND was so thrilled when dad came home with an air brush so he could paint the camo!!!

The race was fun as always. Mike and our friend John came up with a spread sheet that handled all of the bracketing (SO MUCH EASIER), and I got to be the line judge (along with our friend who took all of the "photo finish" shots). Matt and Caleb (John's son and one of Matt's VERY best friends) tied for second place!As far as the brother were concerned the "after the race races" were the bet! We always open up the track to siblings after the official racing is over. It's so fun for everyone to feel involved!

The Nature Center With Isaac and the 1st grade

Well, today was another nutty field trip day! It's kinda fun that all of my big kids have something fun this week!

Isaac was SO excited when I told him I could go with him on his field trip. I ran the boys out to Mary's AGAIN! And then met the bus at the Nature Center. I like the Nature Center. I love that there are 150 acres right smack dab in the middle of Ogden that are full of animals in their natural habitat. Deer, beavers, ducks, geese, and who knows what else.

The kids got to learn about searching for animals. They got to work with animal tracks, animal scat :), and were taught what other "clues" to look for to figure out what animals might be around. Then we headed outside! The plan had been to go snowshoeing, but the rain the night before kinda washed away our snow! It was still great to get outside and search out the animals! Isaac had a blast finding scat. It's a boy thing. The greatest thing, in my mind, was the beaver area. They were hiding, who wouldn't with all those kids, but you could see the trees that they had cut down and the dam. SO FUN!

Isaac had a blast and he kept saying "I'm so glad it's just me and you". I love having these chances to play with my kids! He's such a sweet, smart, AMAZING child!

Skiing, Snowshoeing, and A GREAT DAY With My TYler

I had THE greatest day ever! Tyler's teacher had asked me if I could go on (and drive) the 6th grade's field trip to the Environmental Center. I hadn't ever been to the Environmental Center and didn't really know what to expect, but I said "SURE" because it meant I could spend the day just with Tyler. ANYWAY, being able to go required a LOT of help from other people. Mike stayed home to get kids off to school ( we had to leave early), Mary kept Nick all day, and Ariana kept Lucas so he could go to preschool! PHEW even just that part is almost exhausting.

Tyler and I got to the school early, gathered our group and the other mom going with us (my friend Jen) and loaded in the van. Now, since I didn't know where I was going I really needed to follow the bus. We hurried out of the parking lot and caught up with the bus only to find it EMPTY. It was the wrong bus! hahahahahahah. SO funny! Jen called the school and got the address and her husband for basic directions and we struck out on our own. Once I realized it was on North Fork road I was ok. It's right up by where we go camping every year. PHEW. We made great time and despite Tyler's worrying that we were going to be late :) we got there right after the bus (kids were still ON the bus) AND before 2 other cars!

From the parking lot there was quite the hike up to the center. Kids were complaining all the way up.......HOW were they going to make it all day? LOL

Once we were at the top we divided into our groups, were instructed, and got started! Our first rotation was the "craft" rotation. The kids got to make frames. ( Mrs. Anderson was taking pictures of each child on their ski's.) I have the greatest kid!Our second rotation was cross country skiing. I hadn't ever been cross country skiing before and I was a little nervous. It was SO FUN! I was a little slow in the beginning as I figured it out and I told Tyler that he could go ahead, that I really didn't mind. He said "Nah, I want to stay with you. That's why you are here. To spend time with me. We don't get a lot of one on one time and I just want to be with you." SERIOUSLY? World's greatest 12 year old. Well, I learned how to fall, get back up, and go fast. I want to go again!!Our third and last rotation was snowshoeing. It was so fun. I love the "new" snowshoes. They are so much easier than the old ones I used to use. We hiked up a hill, found a cool slide (for the kids) and then had a great snow ball fight. Which I had to say was started my my friend Jen. After a while I realized that the dad's in our group weren't in the fight. Just the kids and us mom's. SO funny.The hike back down to the car was a lot more fun than the hike up! It was snowball fights and white washings all the way down. :) The ride home was quite. The boys were all BEAT! The mom's were too actually. I have to say again that this was THE BEST DAY, and I am so glad that I got to go and spend the day with Tyler! He's such a blessing in my life!
