Camping at Redman Campground up Big Cottonwood Canyon

We had a wonderful family vacation last week. It was kinda short but VERY nice. Because of work we didn't have a lot of time, and we were hoping to get to see Stephen, so we decided to camp up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We had never camped up there before, but I now have a new favorite campsite to add to my list! It was BEAUTIFUL, and so relaxing! It rained a bit but only at night which is one of my favorite things!

Look at those feet! Lucas refused to wear his shoes!

Matt was so excited to carve! Since he's 8 and has his own pocket knife, this was a whole new experience!
The boys all loved chopping fire wood. It was a little stressful for me, but I think it was their favorite thing all week!We roasted hot dogs our first night and as I was getting everything ready to make chili dogs when I realized that Mike had forgotten the plates and the buns. But No biggie! We ate them on bread on strips of tin foil! Then the next day we had tin foil breakfast (WAY YUMMY BTW) and tin foil dinners! Did you know that you can cook corn on the cob in the fire? It was great!
Wednesday Night Mary , Mike and the kids along with Mom, Don, and Stephen came up to see us! It was so much fun to sit around the fire with everyone! On Thursday we hiked to Doughnut Falls. That was a lot of fun. It wasn't too hard for even the little ones and little boys LOVE waterfalls! IT was grand adventure for us all, but Lucas had the most fun I think.
"Look Mom I'm a Penguin!" No idea what he meant, but he sure was a mess when he was done!

The big boys however DIDN'T like bathing in a bucket out in the open! hehehehehehehehe!! But because of the rain they were all asleep by 8:30!There is nothing better than wrestling in a tent with your brothers! The next day we broke camp and headed to mom's for a bit. It was a great little vacation, except for the fact that we left our hamock tied to the trees!!!! Oh well, I guess now I know what to get Mike for his b-day right?!?!
