Our Little Helper

Lucas LOVES to help. It doesn't matter what we are doing he want's to help. Today Mike had to fix the Kitchen sink. I came around the corner to find this.....

The "Rest of the Story"

(That's my shout out to Paul Harvey who just recently died. I loved that man!)

Ok so the trees came down on Saturday. But by the time that Mike and Trav had them out it was late and the dump was closed so the trees were sitting in the gutter/park strip. Well I guess that Riverdale Police were out looking for the really bad-bad guys on Monday because one of their finest stopped by to tell me that they "had to be moved" or we'd get fined. I told him that they had just barely come down and that the plan had been to cut them up and get rid of them that day but the smow was coming down like crazy and so I wasn't sure what Mike's plan was now. He told me that they had to be moved "right now"..........And stood there looking at me like I should go move them! I said "Well, I understand that, but it's not something I can just go do by myself!" (I was holding the baby, Lucas was hanging on my leg and Isaac was peeking around the corner!)

He finally went away and I called Mike. My wonderful husband came home right then and cut the trees all up and moved them onto our lawn (IN the wonderful snowstorm). I love you MIKE!
I MISS my Trees!

He's so CUTE!

TIMBER!!!!

I love my trees. We planted our Quakies when we moved in almost 10 years ago. The trees in front of our house got big and beautiful. Ok so there were suckers, but they were worth it. I loved the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves. And they shaded my house so well! Well, apparently the bores loved them too because half of the 2 trees in front were dead. So Mike and I decided to take them out. Mike and the boys dug around them and then Mike started chopping roots. Mike tied a rope to the first one and pulled it over (He felt really cool and strong hehe) But we needed Travis and his suburban to get it out of the ground and to pull out the second one. That was an adventure. They broke the first rope. Then a chain. Then after a trip to the store and purchasing a new tow strap they broke the tow strap........but with a new knot in the broken tow strap THEY FINALLY CAME OUT!!! It makes me sad. At the moment they are sitting in my gutter so unfortuanaely I am not totally missing them, but I need to make a trip to the nursery to get some new trees!!!

My Wonderful Sweet Husband (#14)

2 weeks of gratitude posts down and I figured that I should end with the best one yet! My great husband. He is so thoughtful and kind. Today he really needed to stay late at work but he came home to help with dinner before scouts. Then instead of heading right back in he helped me get the boys to bed before he left. And he never once acted like he was doing anything special!

I felt like I was going to pull me hair out today. The boys though cute were nuts! (They had to spend forever in the car as we were going to piano and the Doctor, so I understood the energy!) I had no idea how I was going to get everything done and take care of the kids! But Mike came home and made it work. He finished the dinner I had started while I fed the baby. He is such a true partner. He's part of me and I am so thankful for that. Alone I am pretty weak. With him I can do just about anything! I love you Honey!

My Boys (#13)

Last night while I was blogging Isaac asked what I was doing. I explained to him all about my gratitude posts and that I was writing about Aunt Mary. He said "Well, how come you aren't writing about us? Your most grateful for us right?" I told him that of course I was and that I loved him. I have thought about that all day and I am most grateful for my boys (Mike Included of course)!! I love having a family of boys. There is nothing better than a night of basketball games or listening to a conversation about pokemon (and understanding it!)! As I have reconnected with people of Facebook the first thing they ask is "5 BOYS???? How do you make it?" Which makes me laugh because boys are really so easy! you just have to keep them busy! And they are so sweet to me! I LOVE having all boys!

#12 My Sister

Today I am feeling so grateful for my sister. There isn't a day that goes by where we don't talk at least once on the phone. Today she called me to tell me that her back window on her van had just shattered! It made me happy that I was her "Oh my heck I've got to tell some one" person. She's that for me. Whenever I have a cruddy cay I call her and she manages to talk me out of it. She helps me see reason and she is an amazing example. I have always felt like I needed to strive to be more like her. That's what good friends do right? Inspire us to be better.

Wet Wipes and a Washing Machine (#11)

Today I am grateful for wet wipes and a washing machine! I had planned on "being grateful" for something far more Sunday appropriate, but............well let me explain! This morning I had just gotten all of the boys ready for church and in the van when I picked Nick up out of his jumperoo to find yellowish pasty goo dripping down Nicks legs and splatting onto my clothes. ICK. Well, Mike and the boys left for church (luckily it was Mikes week to go first), and I grabbed the wipes. 20 or so wipes later we were clean and I was feeling grateful that I live in a disposable world! Then I took all of our clothes and threw them into the washer! I am so glad that I am not a Pioneer!
