I love my trees. We planted our Quakies when we moved in almost 10 years ago. The trees in front of our house got big and beautiful. Ok so there were suckers, but they were worth it. I loved the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves. And they shaded my house so well! Well, apparently the bores loved them too because half of the 2 trees in front were dead. So Mike and I decided to take them out. Mike and the boys dug around them and then Mike started chopping roots. Mike tied a rope to the first one and pulled it over (He felt really cool and strong hehe) But we needed Travis and his suburban to get it out of the ground and to pull out the second one. That was an adventure. They broke the first rope. Then a chain. Then after a trip to the store and purchasing a new tow strap they broke the tow strap........but with a new knot in the broken tow strap THEY FINALLY CAME OUT!!! It makes me sad. At the moment they are sitting in my gutter so unfortuanaely I am not totally missing them, but I need to make a trip to the nursery to get some new trees!!!

See, what I thought was totally awesome and comforting was how our police came by to tell us they'd cite us for having the cut down trees along the side of the road instead of spending their time fighting gangs or drugs or fraud. It's nice to know they're after the really dangerous criminals, don't you think?
At least it isn't a total loss - I'll have some cool stuff to post on http://bowls.mikeswoodwork.net/ soon.

Gotta love those riverdale cops, always on the look out for things being in the street when they shouldn't be. Unless of course you are a cop of a different color (sheriff) then they let you slide.
What heroic boys you have!! Glad you got it out of the gutter so they don't come and arest you! :>
